That was one of the weirdest parts of pregnancy that I totally forgot about until I became pregnant again. There was this period during the first trimester and a bit into the second where I totally lost my ability to appreciate sweets. All I wanted was lots and lots of vegetables and anything sweet tasted like air bread, totally tasteless. I've always loved my desserts, my apple pie, my strawberry shortcake and creme brûlée, it was the most disorienting thing to have no interest in cookies or cake. I've heard of women feeling not like themselves after giving birth, like they'd been subsumed by their role as mother. I never felt that way and I'm proud that being a parent is part of my personality, but the loss of interest in sweets for a while...that was unnerving.
