Went to one of my son's friends' houses yesterday and I learned how to make an African baby carrier. I need a lot of practice to be confident the kids won't fall out, but it's pretty cool. The folding reminds me of all the Japanese stuff I've learned from kendo and you can carry a child as big as 3 or 4 years old that way. My son doesn't have patience for my fussing yet, but if I start my daughter on it now, I may have a way better method of hauling her around when she's tired than having to drag a stroller everywhere! I'm told there's no formal name for the wrap, it's just that piece of cloth you can use as a skirt, or a baby carrier or whatever. She's from Cote D'Ivoire, not sure if other countries may have a formal word for it, but it's call all the same.
