May I say that while I realize on the great spectrum of skin tones I’m pretty darn fair, I am so glad that my Middle Eastern and Mongolian heritage does a descent job of protecting me from the weak New England sun. I went to the dermatologists recently for a yearly exam and was asked if I’d ever had a sun burn that blistered. I didn’t even know that was possible. I’m not sure I’ve ever had a burn from the stove that blistered and the idea of time outside destroying you that badly…it terrifies me to even think about. I now understand why my Irish acquaintances are so militant with their sun screen!
