607: Horsing Around

I've never been a fan of socks. My feet always get so hot and uncomfortable. I wear sandles far into the autumn when the cold makes them go numb and far too early in Spring. My policy is no socks until the first snow and none after the first crocus blooms. Yes, it's uncomfortable, but better than hot feet. As a kid it drove grown-ups crazy. I honestly thought that maybe my feet got this way, because I went so many years sans socks. Then the other night I was changing my son out of his sleep sack. While the rest of his body was warm, his feet were hot and sweaty. Suddenly it occurs to me that maybe I had it all backwards. Maybe ridiculous circulation in my feet is genetic and that's why I hated socks. Certainly the evidence seems to imply it...
