I'm not sure why most people don't use wooden bath "mats". For years, we always had cloth ones, which got grubby, needed washing and worst of all seemed like a tempting pee pad to one of our cats. We had to put it up as soon as we showered, or he ruined it and I'm afraid I never was that good at remembering. So finally it occurred to my husband that we should get one of those sauna style mats with the wooden slats. It has worked beautifully, is apparently an object unworthy of our cat's urine and the only maintenance it's needed has been a little butcher block wax once in a while.
