I recently got food poisoning. It was most unpleasant, as I'm sure you can imagine, but I did learn something very useful out of the whole thing: ginger beer or artisan ginger ale is amazingly good at quelling a rumbly tummy. I'd always heard ginger ale was good, because it's made with real ginger and I tried it, but it was nothing compared to the fancy non-alcoholic ginger beer we'd bought for fancy Shirley Temples that had actual pieces of ginger floating in it. I went from feeling queasy and in acute pain to feeling practically normal within five minutes. I wasn't foolish enough to actually intake more than sips of ginger beer and saltines that day, but I was really impressed by it's effectiveness. We've decided now to keep some always on hand, just in case...
