151: Return Policy

Back when I was living in China in my early 20's, my older sister was teaching up in Aroostook County, the largest and most rural county in Maine, often referred to just as The County. We often joked she was in a more foreign land than I. Thanks to the potato harvest, for which they had three weeks off from school every autumn, the part she was living in was in relatively good shape, but you still got that special brand of poverty that happens in places where land is cheap and jobs are scarce.
