50: Poke Poke

Especially with all the turmoil of the move, my son has been playing a lot of iPad games. I found this one, Pettson's Inventions, particularly neat. When I first downloaded it, the game play seemed frustratingly opaque, but once I got used to it, it has been days of fun. Essentially you're trying to make chain reaction inventions. You can push the play button even when the invention isn't finished to see where your stuck points are and then use logic to figure out what piece goes where. Like most games we've gotten for the kid, at first he couldn't do a thing without assistance and now can complete puzzles on his own pretty well. I like the challenge curve is such that my husband even spent an evening beating games 1-3. It definitely fits the category of great for toddlers or gaming newbies. I'm linking about to the deluxe version, which I didn't know existed and am sad that I bought 1-3 and missed out on a chance to get this one! Admittedly, Walter is too young for competitive gaming...
